Mr. Thing
Legendary UK DJ, Turntablist and Producer Mr Thing discovered Hip Hop in the
80s. Immediately enamoured with the art of DJing he began sharpening his skills at
a local youth club in Kent which had a set of 1210s, before beginning to DJ
publically in 1989.
He came to prominence as part of turntablist crew The Scratch Perverts. Winning a
world DMC team title in what was arguably battle DJings most competitive era of
the late 90s and early 2000s. He also won the UK solo DMCs in 2000 (placing 3rd
in the world the same year)
Mr. Thing would move on from battling to focus on other aspects of DJing and
production, working with artists such as Yungun, Doc Brown, and Devise. In 2005
he was linked with Hip Hop royalty DJ Premier to compile the Kings Of Hip Hop
compilation for BBE records. He also held down a residency in the legendary
Fabric nightclub in London.
His record collection is a source of envy for diggers worldwide, this will be on full
display on the 23rd as he takes us on a run through breaks, beats, funk and hip hop
rarities all on 7" vinyl.
