Cork Roots Festival : Two Time Polka

"Border Radio' album launch show at The Nest at Coughlans .

Award winning Cork roots band, Two Time Polka, are proud to announce the release of their sixth CD “Border Radio”

Recordings for this album started in 2018, with a planned release for 2020 but little did we know what the world had in store.

Robbie Barron recorded and mixed all tracks, and along with adding his vocals, he played a multitude of instruments on the album.

The title “Border Radio”, was inspired by an imaginary road trip, which crossed many country and cultural borders, heartening back to a time when you could tune your radio into local stations and hear music from the region.

As typical of a Two Time Polka CD, it covers a wide range of musical styles, including Columbian cumbia, Brazilian choro, Cajun and Country music.

Between the start and completion of the album, our singer, Aaron Dillon, left to live and work in Spain but his impassioned vocals can be heard on the track La Zeniada. Caoilian Sherlock was a willing replacement for Aaron, and along with his unique vocal style he contributed one of his own songs, I’ll Be a Fool for You, to the project.

The band will play at a number of festivals this summer in Ireland and abroad to promote the CD.
