Love Songs Only is a Valentines Day Prom taking place on the 9th of February in Cyprus Avenue, Cork.
The theme of the event is VINTAGE VALENTINES DAY PROM.
There will be fantastic SPOT PRIZES for best dressed.
Attendees are encouraged to don their best retro clobber; prom dresses, ruffles, velvet suits and dickie bows. We guarantee to transport our prom goers to a cinematic, multi-decade high school bop.
Prize categories include :
• Best Dressed 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s.
• Best Valentines Day themed outfit
Love Songs Only will feature House of Mockie Ah’s amazing drag performer extraordinaire Mia Gold. Our two musical acts for the evening will be the country’s finest Beatles cover band, The Beatlebums and Cork Ska legends, Pontious Pilate & The Naildrivers.
Mia Gold :
Hailing from the Azores islands, Portugal, Mia Gold is one of Cork Cities leading drag queens. She has been a resident queen at Chambers Bar since 2017 where she hosts and performs several nights a week. Mia is also a founding member of ‘Mockie Ah’, Ireland’s leading Drag Haus. As part of the group, Mia has performed nationwide and in Europe at sold out cabarets, club-nights and festivals and has appeared on the BBC, TV3 and RTÉ. A skilled artist, Mia Gold creates jaw dropping garments and wigs for both herself and queens across the country.
The Beatlebums :
The Beatlebums are a live tribute to the music of The Beatles. Five of Cork’s finest musicians are bringing the magic music of The Beatles to life in sold-out venues across the country. The band covers tunes from all eras of The Beatles’ career, from the early jangle pop hits, through the middle psychedelic sounds, to the latter-day anthems. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
Pontious Pilate & The Naildrivers :
Formed originally in 1999 in Cork, Ireland, Pontious Pilate & The Naildrivers came about because of their love of the energy, message and fun of ska music. They have shared the stage with such luminaries as The Undertones, Bad Manners, The Skatalites, The Beat and The Selecter.
This event is the grand finale of the Marymount Car Raffle Fundraiser. The car raffle draw will be held on the 14th of February and the winner will receive a brand new Toyota Yaris Hybrid Luna, donated to Marymount by the one and only Roy Keane for the car raffle! (How many people can say that Roy Keane purchased their car for them?!)
This means that ALL car-raffle tickets purchased are a direct donation to Marymount.
Tickets for the Love Songs Only prom are €20 each and include entry into the car raffle!
