Cork's own Emperor of Ice Cream, a band that played an intricate part in "Corkchester," the city's influential Indie music of the mid '90s, are returning to the live stage for one night only on the 26th August at Cypress Ave, Cork, playing their first live show in nearly 30 years.

Emperor of Ice Cream released their debut album No Sound Ever Dies in August 2020, working across continents and through the pandemic to put the finishing touches on a album that was shelved 25 years previously when they parted company with their then label, Sony Records.

What followed were two chart topping singles, Lambent Eyes and Everyone Looks So Fine, and an album that quickly rose in the Official Top 40 album charts and took the much-coveted number 1 spot in the Irish independent charts based on vinyl sales alone. ‘No Sound Ever Dies’ was the 19th biggest selling Irish record of 2020. But, The Emperor’s didn’t stop there!

2021 saw the release of a compilation album of their early releases ‘The EP Collection 93-94’, which climbed to number 21 in the Official Album charts and peaked at number 3 in the independent charts. The band have continued to release new material since their return.

Now living in Cork, Waterford, New York and Amsterdam, the original band, Eddie Butt, John ‘Haggis’ Hegarty, Graham Finn and Colum Young, want to celebrate with their followers from yesterday and today with a high energy night of music. With a setlist that will see The Emperors play ‘No Sound Ever Dies’, their recent singles and one that will also delve into their early releases, for what promises to be one of those very special nights on the Leeside.

Special guests on the night will be ‘A Cow in the Water’
