Written and directed by Aisling Smith and performed by Laura Whelan, OCD Me is a one-woman play about living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Playing at Cork Arts Theatre Wed 28th June – Sat 1st July, 2023 @ 8.00pm plus Lunchtime shows Thurs & Fri @ 1pm (12pm incl. lunch). Based on Aisling’s own experiences this autobiographical show gives an honest but fun account of what it can be like to have OCD. Sure, we all get a bit stressed sometimes. We all feel a bit isolated, ashamed, and terrified; convinced that the minutest of our actions may somehow have catastrophic effects on our loved ones… Or is that just me? Sarah was diagnosed with OCD over a decade ago. She’s been managing it pretty well, but it’s hard living in a world that tells you to ‘follow your gut’, when your gut is telling you to touch the door handle 64 times. She’s here to share her story and let you know that there’s much more to the condition than the stereotypes we see on TV, like obsessive hand-washing (though in Sarah’s case that’s definitely part of it). Running time 55 mins Suitable for ages 12+ Contains: strong language, flashing lights, and strong themes
