A delightful sandy small beach a 3 minute drive south from Kinsale town. Located in the docks area of Kinsale harbour the beach sits just below James Fort and has a view across the harbour towards Charles Fort.
It's sheltered location is popular with swimmers and as an east facing beach it's often pleasant on days when the prevailing south westerly wind is blowing hard at other nearby beaches like Garretstown and Garrylucas.
It can be a little tricky for first-timers to find. Follow the main road south out of Kinsale town, cross the big bridge over the Bandon River and take the left turn just after the bridge. Follow the road down towards marina and The Dock Bar where you can park. The path to the beach is to the right of the pub.
