The Algiers blends its storied past with bold, globally inspired food and expertly crafted drinks. As the only pub in West Cork offering craft cocktails, it brings a fresh and exciting twist to the local dining scene, serving a menu that features the finest West Cork produce with influences from Mexico, California, and Asia. House favourites include Tacos, Chicken Taquitos, and expertly crafted signature cocktails.
Nestled in the heart of Baltimore, West Cork, The Algiers has stood for over 130 years in the shadow of Dún Na Séad Castle, once the stronghold of the O’Driscoll clan. Before the pub’s establishment in 1892 by Beamish and Crawford Brewery, Baltimore was a haven for smugglers and pirates, with rumours of an illicit síbín disguised as a bakery and shop. The pub’s name recalls the infamous 1631 Sack of Baltimore when Barbary pirates raided the village, abducting over 100 people.
With its warm, North Africa-inspired interiors, rich textures, ambient lighting, and subtle nods to Baltimore’s maritime past, The Algiers is a must-visit destination for food lovers, cocktail enthusiasts, and history buffs alike.
