If you want an off-the-beaten-track beach as far away from the hustle and bustle of life then this litle beach in deep west Cork is simply unbeatable. Located on the south-eastern side of Bere Island, a 15 minute walk from Rerrin village, this hideaway strand has pristine blue water, it's east facing so it tends to be sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly wind and it's sand is soft and golden.

It's not easy to access but that's what makes it special. Murphy's Ferry brings you to Rerrin Village then follow the road out to Ardaragh. You'll need to turn right off the narrow main road and you'll have to open two gates on your way down to the beach - don't forget to close them behind you!

Follow the map above to see the exact location.

There's no mobile phone signal here too if you want to force yourself to switch off completely!
