Ballyrisode beach is a fifteen minute drive west from Schull village in the direction of Goleen and Crookhaven.

Smaller, east facing and far less known than Barleycove beach (a further 15 minutes drive west) Ballyrisode is it is beautifully secluded and often empty even on sunny days.

There are two separate strands here. One, nearest the car park, is the smaller of the two and is covered at high tide, the other is less sheltered but much larger and is more suitable for ball games and swimming.

The approach road is narrow but there is a car park at the end of the cul de sac.
