Well known as a Cork stout only pub (you'll find no Dublin Guinness here!) Calanans is a favourite of both the older gregarious South Parish residents who play cards and rings on week nights and a younger quieter city crowd who prefer simpler pubs. If you're on your own and you don't get talking to somebody here there is no hope for you.
