Cork County Council and Living Youghal are inviting visitors to experience the darker side of Youghal’s history this Halloween with the return of Shadows of the Clock, a special series of after-dark tours at the historic Youghal Clock Gate Tower. Taking place on 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th and 31st October 2026, the tours will combine heritage, storytelling and atmosphere to explore some of the darker and more mysterious chapters of the Tower’s history. Tours will take place at 6pm and 7pm each evening and will last approximately one hour. New for 2026, special adults-only (18+) tours will also take place at 8pm on 29th, 30th and 31st October, offering an atmospheric late-evening experience specifically for an adult audience. For centuries, the Clock Gate Tower has played a prominent role in Youghal’s history. Originally forming part of the town’s fortifications and later serving as a prison, the building is associated with stories of punishment, unrest and intrigue. Shadows of the Clock brings some of these lesser-known stories to life after dark, offering visitors a different perspective on one of East Cork’s most iconic heritage attractions. The event is being delivered by Living Youghal on behalf of Cork County Council as part of ongoing efforts to showcase Youghal’s unique heritage and cultural tourism offering. Places are strictly limited and advance booking is essential. Tickets can be booked online through the Living Youghal website.
