A new ferry service linking Cork directly with northern France has been launched. Irish operator Hibernia Line has confirmed plans for a new RoPax freight and passenger route between Cork and Boulogne-sur-Mer in France.
The year-round service by Hibernia Line begins operating in mid-June 2026, with six evening sailings per week in both directions using two vessels, the St. Patrick, with space for 662 passengers and 193 cabins; and Akka, with capacity for 744 passengers and 227 cabins.
Designed as an alternative to the UK landbridge for freight transport, the new route will also give passengers a direct sea connection between Cork and mainland Europe. Journey time from France to Ireland will be approximately 21 hours.
Hibernia Line says the service will be the first direct ferry link between the two ports, offering a convenient new travel option for visitors travelling between Ireland and northeastern France.
