Weird Worlds features my most recent body of work, an illustration series of a diverse lineup of heroes who inspire to walk down new paths and stories, being celebrated for the often peculiar characters they are. I enjoy inventing worlds, filling them with extraordinary characters and developing unique stories of any kind.
A great influence on my work is creating and playing tabletop roleplaying games, which rely completely on imagination and communication. These provide an engaging, fun game setting that can be a very effective way to improve understanding other people and their thoughts and feelings, promoting empathy. My heroes from Weird Worlds could populate any of the countless TTRPG settings and aim to inspire both players and gamemasters to explore new characters and worlds.
The project came to life through a successful crowd funding campaign and got funded by two art grants in 2021 and 2022. The exhibition setting in Kinsale Library, which is a home for the many wonderful universes found in books, lends itself to this motto of storytelling, discovery, fantasy and imagination.
The exhibition opening will take place on April 27th at 3pm at the Kinsale Library Exhibition Space and admission is free all throughout the exhibition's runtime.
Please note the Kinsale Library opening times: Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30am - 5:30pm
